Fender Jazzmaster ’62 reissue

This and the Jaguar are thee surf guitars. I have a Japanese model as I did not want to risk an historic piece as a stage guitar (and there was no U.S. reissue at the time). However, the Japanese pickups are not wound to the same thickness and it was the pickup winding that made Jazzmasters unique! I replaced them with Seymour Duncan SMJ-1s, which are to the original specs. Next to go was the noisy, multi-slot bridge that is one of Fender's worst designs ever, but in reissuing this guitar they followed that horrible design as I guess they should to be accurate. In its place I put a Fender Mustang bridge that fits perfectly. Now we're rollin'. The thing sounds right and the strings aren't jumpin' around. It stays in tune well. The renowned dual circuit design works great as do all switches. A fine recreation in the spirit of the original guitar.

Jetpack example of its sound:
with factory pickups: Just A Girl
with SMJ1 replacement pickups: Ex Girlfriend
