Epiphone Dot

Once a separate company, Epiphone is now the Gibson budget line, as Squire is for Fender, offering classic versions at cheaper quality and prices. The Dot is modeled after the Gibson ES335, but falls short, as it would have to at what, a grand less? The finish is durable, but seems too thick. On the positive side, taking this to live shows has not put so much as a scratch on it. The potentiometers seem to go from all-on to all-off with no in between area. If it were not heavy enough in the first place, I added the Bigsby unit and now the whole thing must outweigh both of my basses combined! Still, it is adequate and stays in tune sporting heavy gauge strings. I love the width of the neck and fretboard. If not the greatest sounding guitar, it does sound good and it sure PLAYS well (it may be my favorite if judging the ACT of playing), and that is often overlooked in choosing an instrument.
